Rowland Eco Yoga Mat is a non-toxic sustainable mat designed to keep you healthy when practicing yoga.

Sustainably Sourced Cork From Portugal

Our cork is sourced from cork oak forests in Portugal which adhere to strict Portuguese standards. Cork oak trees have an expected lifespan of 200 years, but they can continue to grow for up to 400 years. They first produce cork for harvesting after 25 years, and then they will be harvested every 9 year cycle after that. No trees are cut down during the harvesting process.

Natural Rubber

Sustainably harvested natural tree rubber, gathered from trees by making a cut in the bark and collecting the runny sap in cups. This is then processed into rubber. Natural rubber is a renewable resource and is non-toxic. This product is not suitable for people with a latex allergy (99% latex-free).

Please note the packaging contains a plastic wrap to protect the item, however, we are currently in the process of switching this for bio-degradable plastic.

The Benefits of Cork

Cork is a sustainable and renewable material, which comes from the bark of a cork oak tree. Cork has many unique properties making it ideal for practicing yoga.

Non-Toxic

No PVC's, phthalates, VOC's or any other nasties. All natural materials giving you peace of mind when practicing yoga.

Naturally Antimicrobial

Any bacteria that makes its way onto a cork mat won't be able to live there due to the natural properties of cork.

Superior Grip

Grip improves as you start to sweat, unlike other yoga mats. This makes cork ideal for hot yoga or any yoga for that matter.

Comfort

Cork is 50% air which makes the surface smooth, soft and comfortable, whilst still providing adequate cushioning.

Easy To Clean

To clean your cork yoga mat, simply use water on a soft cloth and wipe. Once cleaned let the mat air dry.

Durable & Enduring

The honeycomb structure of cork helps make cork resistant to impact, abrasion and friction, which ensures a longer lifespan.

Don't put on your skin what you wouldn't put in your mouth.

The problem with traditional yoga mats

Unfortunately, most yoga mats today are still predominantly made with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and can contain all sorts of unwanted materials and chemicals, including; Azodicarbonamide (ADA), Phthalates, Parabens, Polypropylene, Formaldehyde, Benzene and other volatile oil compounds (VOCs).

These substances have been shown to off-gas during usage into a breathable gas, some of which are even classed as possible carcinogens!

As we practice yoga, core principles can therefore be hindered. We breath deeply and make direct skin contact with our mat, leading to us being exposed to any harmful effects.

Obviously, this is not something we want in our yoga practice. We want to offer a more natural alternative so that you can enjoy peace of mind during your practice.

Will be recommending to all my friends!

I was so happy to see Rowland come out with this. It's very difficult finding healthy and sustainable yoga mats these days! I practice yoga daily and am always conscious about the chemicals in traditional yoga mats. The mat has a really nice feel to it (looks very 'Earthy') and is nice and grippy. Will be recommending to all my friends!
