Why Sleep Grounded?

Research shows that a build-up of free radicals in the body has the potential to cause oxidative stress, inflammation and accelerated ageing. When your body is grounded to the Earth, you are receiving a constant flow of free electrons which are able to quickly neutralise any positively charged free radicals – the hallmark of chronic inflammation.

Grounding during sleep provides the body with multiple hours of these free electrons, at a time where the body undergoes the most healing and regeneration. Sleeping grounded has also been shown to regulate the body’s natural circadian rhythm, otherwise known as the sleep-wake cycle.

This leads to a number of benefits including improved sleep quality, deeper more restorative sleep, finding it easier to fall asleep, greater clarity upon waking, insomnia relief and more.

Specifications

The Rowland Earthing sheet is 90cm x 2.7m and is suitable for single, double, king and super king size beds.

For grounding two people in the same bed, one option is to fit the sheet across the width of the bed (as shown in the illustration above). However, we recommend having one sheet per person for maximum comfort and increased grounding exposure.  Get 20% off when you order 2 or more sheets by entering the code EARTHINGX2 at checkout.

Includes:

1 Rowland Earthing Sheet 35" x 110" (90cm x 2.7m)
1 Earthing connection cord 16 ft (5m)

Materials Used:

All of our sheets are made from 100% ethically sourced cotton and are lined with a pure silver thread, forming a grid like pattern across the sheet. Pure silver is used for its unique conductive properties allowing you to get the maximum grounding effect.

Note: The Earthing Sheet doesn't run on electricity, nor does it even come into contact with electricity. Only the third prong on the plug (otherwise know as the 'earth pin') is required in order to ground the sheet - the other two prongs are plastic and are therefore non-conductive. The socket can therefore be switched off at all times and the sheet will still be grounded.

How To Measure The Benefits

How To Measure The Benefits

The grounding effect can be measured with a multimeter device, which allows one to measure voltage in the body before and after grounding.

The video below shows how touching the Earthing sheet causes a significant drop in body voltage.

Why is body voltage important?

When not grounded, you will generally see a high amount of volts being carried by the body and this is often further increased when there is a presence of dirty electricity in the surrounding environment. Body voltage becomes even higher as we move further away from the ground. In fact, for every meter (3.28 feet) you are above the ground, 300 volts of charge will build up in the body. This means if you are in a second story bedroom, your charge would be 1,000 volts, on average.

As we know, carrying excess positive charge in the body can be a problem and is an important marker of inflammation. It is recommended that one adopts strategies such as grounding to combat any excess positive charge in the body and to stay in good health. When grounded, the body shares the same electrical potential as the Earth and this provides a protective effect against any excess positive charge.

FAQs

FAQs

How to use the Rowland Earthing Sheet?

To ground your Rowland Earthing Sheet, attach the cord to the connection point on the sheet and insert the plug into a standard plug socket. All plug sockets are naturally grounded to the Earth. As soon as the sheet is grounded, you can start experiencing all the unique benefits to grounding during sleep. The sheet can be used underneath your current sheet, however, for optimal benefits, it is recommended that you make direct skin contact with the sheet.

Note, the Rowland Earthing Sheet does not run on electricity. As all sockets are grounded to the Earth, once the sheet is plugged into a socket via the cord provided, the sheet instantly becomes grounded to the Earth. The Rowland Earthing Sheet simply acts as an extension cord, bringing the Earth's energy inside and allowing you to stay grounded while you sleep.

Does the Rowland Earthing Sheet use electricity?

No. The sheet does not run on electricity, nor does it even come into contact with electricity. The Rowland Earthing Sheet simply acts as an extension cord, bringing the Earth's energy inside and allowing you to stay grounded.

Can I use the Rowland Earthing Sheet on top of my current sheet?

The Rowland Earthing Sheet can be used as a bottom sheet underneath a light cotton top sheet, however, the best results are obtained when the Rowland Earthing Sheet is used as a top sheet and comes into contact with bare skin, while you sleep.

Can I use my electric blanket with the Rowland Earthing Sheet?

Yes, an electric blanket is fine, just make sure the Rowland Earthing Sheet goes on top of your electric blanket in order to achieve the full grounding effect.

Is the Rowland Earthing Sheet soft?

The sheet is made from a high quality cotton material and so feels soft like a typical bed sheet.

How do I know if my sheet is grounded?

As long as the sheet is correctly connected to the plug socket, the sheet will be grounded. If you wish to double check that the sheet is grounded, the most common way is to use a multimeter. Follow the instructions to set up the multimeter and connect your sheet to the socket. Once you have done this, have the end of the black wire touching the sheet and have the end of the red wire touching your skin. The multimeter will give you a voltage reading. Now, keep the wires in the same position, but touch the sheet with either your bare foot or hand. If the reading on the multimeter has decreased significantly, then the sheet is fully functional and working!

How do I know if my plug socket is grounded?

This should not be an issue with most homes in the UK as they will almost certainly have a grounded electrical system (this is the third hole in any plug socket). However, if you're still unsure, you can purchase a ground checker or have an electrician check it for you.

How long will my sheet last?

If the washing and care instructions are followed correctly, it should have no problem lasting up to three years or more. But this will vary from person to person, so it would be impossible to give an accurate answer to this.

Is there any possibility that I will be electrocuted?

No, all of our UK plugs are sent out with the live and neutral pins and fuse removed, only the earthing pin remains so electricity cannot flow from the wall socket.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes. As long as both the original outlet and the extension both have a grounding hole (the third hole), then you can be grounded with an extension cord.

Is there a limit for how much I can use it?

No. The longer you use the sheet, the better the results. You should aim to stay grounded for as long as possible each day and night. If you think about it, before shoes and houses came along, humans were grounded most of the time!

I have a pacemaker, is it safe for me to use the Rowland Earthing Sheet?

Yes, it is safe for people with pacemakers.
