Can I include wake-up sounds with the sunrise?

Yes, the Rowland EarthClock™ has a selection of 7 soothing wake up sounds, including realistic bird sounds, that can be used with your morning sunrise if you want the extra reassurance of being awake for a certain time.

Can I switch the time display off?

Yes, the time display can be turned off to help you create a pitch black sleeping environment. Simply press the minus button on the top of the clock until the light is switched off. 

Does the Rowland EarthClock™ have a sunset option?

Yes, you can create a personalised sunset to help you wind down before bed. The light is low in blue spectrum which makes it perfect for a bedside reading light without disrupting your sleep and melatonin production. 

Will the sunrise start before my wake-up time?

Yes, the sunrise will reach max brightness for your set wake-up time.


For example, if you set a 30min sunrise duration and set your wake-up time for 7am, the sunrise will start at 6:30am.

Does the Rowland EarthClock™ emit EMFs?

Rowland EarthClock™ has been designed to create a healthy sleeping environment and therefore does not incorporate any wireless or EMF-emitting features.

Is it the same as a real sunrise?

Rowland EarthClock™ uses specific wavelengths of light that aims to replicate a natural sunrise. However, we still recommend getting outside soon after waking up to expose your eyes to even more brightness and further strengthen your circadian rhythm.

How long can I set the sunrise duration for?

The sunrise can be set for between 1 - 60 minutes. We recommend having a 30 - 60 minute sunrise for the optimal wake up experience.

Does the Rowland EarthClock™ include sleep sounds?

Yes, the Rowland EarthClock™ includes a selection of relaxing sleep sounds from nature to aid falling asleep (waves, rain, stream, owl, crickets, ambient noise). These can be used in conjunction with a sunset simulation.
